St.
Hellen Kitembelion Camp Site is a new hope to the poor communities around mountain
Kilimanjaro and other conservation areas in Tanzania. This foundation is an initiative made to help
communities around conservation areas to benefit and have direct positive
effects from the tourism activities conducted in the conservation areas. It`s
expected that by building the capacity of communities living around
conservation to sustainably run their lives and have access to all important
social services will help them to get a clear meaning and cherish the
importance of conserved areas.
Purpose
of building these camps along all conservation areas in Tanzania is to reduce
the conflicts between the community and conservation area, by using tourism
activities to create employments, engage the community on conservation
activities, give better access to health care and education.
The
camp sites are expected to raise funds through its profits and finance
community development projects to the communities along the conservation areas.
The
first St. Hellen Kitembelion Foundation Camp site is established at the feet of
mountain Kilimanjaro meant to give an easy access to the mountain and the
Kilimanjaro National Park, some few kilometers to Embusero game reserve and
surrounded by Masai Community. This location not only gives a competitive
advantage but also give an easy access and beautiful view of Mountain
Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro National Park and Embusero game reserve.
The
funds collected from St. Hellen Kitembelion Foundation Campsite help to finance
community development projects especially on economic empowerment, education
and healthcare to masai community in longido, loliondo and ngare Nairobi.
